I’ve been working on this sketch painting for the bear book, and since Infinite Painter on my Wacom MovinkPad 11 was already recording the process, I figured I’d keep recording once I brought the piece over to my larger drawing display.

Stopping a piece before I paint any detail feels like I ate my veggies, but didn’t get dessert.
Rather than just talk about the painting, I used the process footage as a backdrop for something I’ve been struggling with lately: the business of art, and why it feels especially difficult this year.
Here’s the video.

We hear you, Patrick! Being an entrepreneur is just a step ahead of being a senior (i.e. unbelievably difficult). At least for you it comes with a body of work that gives other people pleasure as well as a moment of respite from tackling the everyday, everyday, non-stop.
But we won’t go down that rabbit hole. With the current trade war worrying all of us, we all hope for better days ahead. (Must be infinitely worse in Alberta with separation on the agenda.) At the moment we can at least still use an old-fashioned keyboard to type a reply. Cell phones (micro mini laptops) don’t always help you out that way.
All the very best. 😀
