Painting Another Bear for the Book

I’ve been working on a new painting called Skoki’s Seat. It’s one of two paintings I need to finish for the new book, along with a few more sketches I’d like to include.

There’s no time off right now. I’m writing this on Sunday, coming up on a 12-hour day. Let me tell you, YouTube editing is a lot of work, but I’m getting better at it every time. At least I hope so.

In this new video, I share some of the painting process, a little of Skoki’s backstory, and how one reference-photo session can inspire several paintings. I also talk about digital painting, my hardware and software, and some of the unexpected work involved in putting an art book together.

Here’s the video. Hope you like it.

Cheers,
Patrick

  1. We all loved your video of Skoki’s Seat. We’d like to suggest that you try a little chair yoga with upbeat music such as the music used by the Weather Network (every ten minutes on the tens) during this unprecedented July 2026. It just might help you find that finishing touch (but it’s just a thought)!

All the best to you and yours!

    1. Ha! Is that to make the video more interesting or ME more interesting? 🙂

      Thanks, Barb!

  2. Thanks for the chuckle, Patrick! 😀
